Spread over 2.76 square miles, the township of Saddle Brook is present in Bergen County in New Jersey state. The township of Saddle Brook has around 14,000 people and shares its borders with Fair Lawn, Garfield, Rochelle Park, Paramus and Lodi.

The overall history of Saddle Brook goes back to the birth of Saddle River Township, which was created in 1716, including the entire territory of Bergen County present towards the west of the Saddle River. This makes it one of the first municipalities in Bergen County. It became one of the first places to get incorporated as a township under the Township Act of 1798 and was one of the first 104 townships which were formed in New Jersey.

In the beginning, the township's name got derived from the Saddle River, which is a tributary of the Passaic River flowing through New Jersey. In 1955, the Saddle River Township officially got renamed to its current name, Saddle Brook.
